After having received my latest couple of teas from steeping room, I had very excitedly reviewed my favorites, the 2026 Dragon Claw Tea from Vietnam and Jasmine Green Tea Pearls, both of which ranked fairly highly in my rating. This one however, I do not think will be so lucky.
Originally picked and ordered because of my fondness for white tea and my liking towards smoked or smokey Oolong teas, I had gotten the 2026 Mr. Qiu's Charcoal Dried Panxi Silver Needle. Upon receiving the tea I was impressed with the color and form of the leaves, they looked perfect, elegantly white with their delicate and infinitesimally fine hairs, I was impressed.
However, upon steeping and giving it a try, I felt there was something, a lot of something, missing. I hate to be that guy, but there was little to nothing to be found in this teas flavor! A light smoky flavor yes, and some of the crisp fresh and grassy or hay like flavor of white tea, but it was ever so faint. It's flavor was to the white teas I've experienced prior what a La Croix is to real juice, its like a whisper of the full version. That is all to say, I was not all too impressed, not one I would for sure be ordering again. 2/10.
